ProSoft Organic Cotton Fleece ECO-PUL maintains its Waterproof 300X Technology (300+ wash cycle durability) when care protocols protect the polyurethane film from chemical degradation and heat damage. The fabric arrives cut-and-sew ready — do not pre-wash before construction.

Washing

Wash in hot water (rated to 145–165°F) with a zero-residue liquid detergent — warm water extends film lifespan. Add an extra rinse cycle to remove detergent residues that accumulate on the polyurethane film.

Pilling in fleece is normal — and intentional. Our fleece is manufactured without anti-pill chemical treatments. Anti-pill finishes use silicones, resins, or chemical crosslinkers that reduce breathability, compromise softness, and introduce environmental concerns — with effectiveness lasting only 5–30 washes. Some surface pilling is expected with wear and friction. Use a fabric shaver to restore the surface — never pull pills by hand, which damages the base fabric structure.

Drying

Dry on medium heat only — never exceed 130°F (50°C). High heat causes polyurethane breakdown appearing as stiffening, cracking, or delamination.

What to Avoid

Substances that permanently destroy waterproofing: Fabric softeners coat fibers and eliminate both absorbency and waterproofing — damage is irreversible. Chlorine bleach causes delamination. Vinegar and baking soda break down the laminate bond. Dryer sheets coat the film identically to liquid softeners. Non-chlorine oxygen bleach is acceptable sparingly for W-391 Standard only — avoid on W-209 Silver and W-683 FoodSAFE variants.

Manufacturing Odor

New fabric may have a noticeable smell from the thermal bonding process. This dissipates within 24–72 hours of airing or after a single wash-dry cycle.
